A woman was taken to hospital earlier today after a fall on a Lakeland peak.

Members of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called to help the 31-year-old woman from Surrey after she damaged her ankle while coming down from St Sunday Crag. Thirteen members of the team helped get the casualty from the fell.

The woman had successfully ascended the grade-three scramble up Pinnacle Ridge a short time before the incident.

She was taken to Patterdale, from where an ambulance took her to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
