A man was airlifted from Ben Nevis yesterday after falling on its north face.

Police were alerted about 12.50pm after the man fell near the CIC Hut. He was airlifted from the site and taken to Belford Hospital in Fort William, suffering from back and wrist injuries. A spokesman for the Northern Constabulary said no details of the man would be released.

Later the same afternoon, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team went to the aid of a man and his daughter who were lost on the mountain. The team was called out about 5pm after a call saying the pair had lost their way while descending Ben Nevis. The rescuers found the father and his girl and led them safely off the hill. They were uninjured
