A mountain rescue team went to the aid of a man who was having a fit in a remote mountain shelter.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at 7.45pm on Tuesday after police were alerted.

Fifteen members of the volunteer team went to help the 18-year-old, at a bothy in Grisedale, and team members treated the man at the scene before stretchering him to their Land Rover ambulance.

He was then transferred to a North West Ambulance Service vehicle and taken to the Cumbria Infirmary, Carlisle.
