A man who went missing in the Highlands has been found safe and well.

Neil Kendall of Aviemore was described by police as a keen walker and officers asked outdoor enthusiasts to be on the lookout for the 64-year-old.

He had not been seen since leaving his work as a night porter at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort 12 days ago.

Concerns for Mr Kendall’s welfare were voiced when he failed to turn up for his planned shifts and on Monday this week police repeated their appeals for sightings of the man.

A spokesperson for Northern Constabulary confirmed he had been traced. “The public are thanked for their assistance,” the spokesperson added.
