A man has died after falling 600ft in the Cairngorms.

Police were contacted about 12.45pm today and the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team was called out to the site in Gleann Eanaich.

A companion raised the alarm after making his way off the mountain.

A Sea King search and rescue helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth also flew to the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The man sadly died as a result of his injuries.

“Police are now carrying out inquiries into the incident and there is no further information at this time.”

The spokesperson said the man would not be identified until all his next of kin have been informed.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
