Rescuers were called out to aid a young mountain biker who suffered a serious leg injury on Ilkley Moor.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association joined a Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew and members of the hazardous area response team at the incident on Monday.

Police officers also went to the aid of the 18-year-old on the West Yorkshire moor.

A UWFRA spokesperson said: “A vehicle with limited crew was despatched from our Grassington base with team members local to the incident being tasked to attend.

“The team assisted YAS and the Hart team to carry the casualty down to the road ambulance.

“We wish the casualty, who had a suspected broken femur, a very speedy recovery.”
